Chapter 2: The Elevator

You find the elevator at the end of a long, narrow hallway. The doors are made of wrought iron, and a single flickering bulb dimly lights the inside. You step inside and press the button for the thirteenth floor. The doors close with a metallic clang, and the elevator begins its ascent.

As you rise, you notice the numbers on the panel are scratched and worn, almost as if they've been clawed at. The air grows colder the higher you go, and you feel a sense of dread creeping up your spine. The elevator jerks to a stop, and the doors open with a groan.

Do you:

Step out of the elevator and make your way to your office?

Stay in the elevator, feeling an inexplicable urge to go back down?
