Chapter 2: The Elevator

The elevator waits at the end of a long, narrow hallway, its wrought-iron doors casting jagged shadows under the dim glow of a single flickering bulb. Stepping inside, you press the button for the thirteenth floor. With a metallic clang, the doors close, and the elevator begins its ascent.

As you rise, you notice the panel's numbers are scratched and worn, almost as if clawed at by unseen hands. The air grows colder with each passing floor, an uneasy chill crawling up your spine. Then, with a jarring jolt, the elevator shudders to a stop. The doors groan open, revealing the darkened hallway ahead.

Do you:

Step out of the elevator and make your way to your office?
